The New BIO:

The Rusty Nails have taken their unique blend of bagpipes and guitar-heavy rock all over the beautiful land of the United States. It all originated from the mind of one, Brett Alexander Boye, who about seven years ago first conceived the idea of blending bagpipes with rock music as his Scottish roots seemed to be relentlessly knocking. Their sound has been described as The Who/The Clash/Big Country/Fugazi with bagpipes as the lead and central ingredient. Don't be fooled, however, the bagpipes are not a gimmick as they appear on approximately 90% of The Rusty Nails' catalog which consists of three full-lengths and an ep (which is part of a split record).

A few reviews:

"...mixing bagpipes, amazing rock and experimental to create a wonderful hybrid of wonderful sounds..." (Jersey Beat)

"As wonderful as AC/DC back in '74. A Highlandish feel and catchy riffs. Very easy to listen to." (Impact)

"Punks f*ck off cause this sh*t is for real." (Muddle)

In the last seven years or so of touring, the Philadelphia-based band has delighted audiences all over the country including Philadelphia, Reading, Charlotte, Savannah, Pensacola, Flagstaff, San Antonio and Asheville just to name a few. The current lineup consists of Brett Alexander Boye (bagpipes, vocals, gtr), Kevin Cooper (bass guitar, former Bobbykork), Kermit Hill Lyman III (guitar, vocals, former Wally) and Pat Sifer (Drums, former Bobbykork).

The band is releasing their third full-length and fourth release this Fall of 2002 and are going on tour to promote it. The record is entitled Vestiges and is dedicated to all of the victims who lost their lives during the tragic events of 9/11. It also mentions how close Brett Alexander Boye was: "I was only two blocks away on the esplanade alongside the Hudson River when the World Trade Center began to fall. I ran with no time to think. I have many pictures etched into my mind of that most horrible day and in the days and weeks that followed, I never cried more in my life." The record proved to be an excellent form of therapy and is also going to be a charitable endeavor as half of the money brought in will be donated to The Red Cross.
